School starts!

Well, the last couple of days have been real hectic. The first days of school are always rough, but they're a lot rougher when your body is used to staying awake until 4am and sleeping in until 2pm. Not only that , but I'm taking a lot of heavy homework based classes this semester so that seems like all I do. aka, no knitting has gotten done since last time I posted. No playing Myst:Uru either, of which I got readdicted to. Nothing is as good as the original Myst though. Right now we're having a freak thunderstorm, so I probably shouldn't be on the computer, but I was on it anyway to do, guess what? Homework!

Upclose-ribbon scarf

Here's an upclose of the drop knit pattern. I don't think you can see it very well, unfortunately, the Tiki ribbon that I was working with covered it up pretty well, but it was still a very quick scarf to knit. Posted by Hello

Ribbon Scarf

Here's me wearing my new ribbon scarf. Isn't it cute? Posted by Hello

Purse-Back

Here's the back of the same purse. You can see the old Rennaissance Festival Jewelry that I sewed on that makes it jingle while I walk. I've been thinking about adding sdomthing else to cover the top of the jingly thing at the base of the purse strap. What do you guys think? Posted by Hello

Purse-Front

Here's the front of my purse that I recently knit. Posted by Hello

Yet another vacation day

Well, yesterday, late, I finished my ribbon scarf. I got my friend at school here to let me use his digital camera so I took a picture of it and of my newly finished purse. I'll put the pictures up here when I get him to share. I started working on the mock cable scarf(SnB2) in this cool magenta color. On other topics, Travis is back in town, Christina is getting in town tommorrow, and I moved all my stuff into KD today. I also got all the mailboxes labeled, all the message boards labeled and alumn boxes sorted. I was going to get the activity calanders printed up, but it was too light to copy, so I'll make it darker and try again tommorrow. As for Pref Day ensemble, I can't make up my mind if I want to hold tryouts, if I want to just say no one who is on co-op can be on it (though I'm leaning towards that decision, so we can practice during the semester, all of us). I need to make up my mind probably before the first chapter. Oh the pressure, I can't take it. Must knit.

Nation States

So I was reading the Swimmerhouse forums and I came across this link NationStates. It looks like a ton of fun, so of course I started my own nation. I'm working on my ribbon scarf, but I'm not finished with it yet. The only thing I've really accomplished today was making mailbox labels and putting them up at Kappa Delta. At least I'm getting Sorority stuff accomplished!

Shopping trip

Today we made the hour trip to Jefferson City so I could spend my Old Navy Gift card. I got a whole bunch of cute new clothes! Then we went shopping for the pets and I got my bunny a big run around ball so he can play. I made some progress on my ribbon scarf last night, I should be able to finish it tonight or tommorrow night, depending on how much motivation I end up having. A friend of mine said that I could use his digital camera if mine doesn't get fixed by the time he gets back from break, so that means pictures! It got cold again down here after a freakish streak of 70degree weather around New Years, so I need to hurry up with my ribbon scarf so I can make myself a warm scarf. Anyway, this is a weird ramble so I'm just going to stop while I'm ahead.

Today

Man, today is such a lazy day. I haven't gotten anything done. Well, that's a lie I guess, I've been online checking out Rent.com looking for apartments for this summer. Shannon got a job in Pittsburgh, so I'm helping him look for apartments. Rent.com is pretty cool except for that the listings almost never say weather utilities are included or not. That and not only do we have a cat, but we also have a rabit and a bird and listings on reant.com rarely mention small pets at all. Well, anyway, I'm going to get back to knitting my ribbon scarf and watching Shallow Hal. I might write something more today or I might not, depending on what happens.

Shopping for yarn

Yesterday night I tought Tracy to knit. Yay Tracy! So today we went yarn shopping, we were going to go to the LYS, Uniquely Yours, but then we realized that it was Sunday. (Yeah, the days kind of blur together during Christmas break.) So we went to Walmart. Yay for cheap yarn! I bought some Tiki ribbon yarn to make the Ribbon scark from SnB2. I also got some Red Heart(I know the dreaded Red Heart) Symphany, it's actually kind of nice, so I can make the faux cable scarf from SnB2. I also got a cable needle set so I can learn to make cables here soon. I also got some Red Heart(okay, okay, they had a bargain bin and there was a lot of Red Heart) Baby Clouds to make the Wavy Scarf from SnB2. Yeah, I wanted some new scarfs. This was not my boyfriends shopping spree that he's going to give me, I still haven't decided what I want to get with that. I finished the Loopy Velez cowl today. I still don't know if I like it. Shannon hates it, but he hates most weird things, so I just don't listen to him. *grin* I'm looking forward to my Best Friend getting in town Friday or maybe before(if I can talk her into it). I recently tought her how to knit to, so we can all go yarn shopping together! Yay!

New Years

New Years was awesome here in Rolla. Not much knitting got done, but there was a lot of Irish Car Bombs, Beer Pong, Flamin' Dr. Peppers and other such drinking escapades. And of course at midnight, there was kissing and opening of Champagne bottles. Lot's of Spraying of Champagne. (That was fun). Then later on there were Pizza Rolls and hanging out and comiserating, then finally going to bed at 5am. Oh, it was a great night. Anyway, what I got for Christmas.
  • SnB2-Stitch 'n Bitch Nation from my best friend
  • TI-89- really cool calculator from my parents
  • A new KD pin, because I lost mine, from my parents
  • Socks (really cool ones, I like 'em) from my parents
  • Champagne Bubble Bath from my Boyfriend's mom
  • A striped turtleneck and $25 from my grandparents
  • $100 gift card to Old Navy from my parents (I need new clothes bad)
  • Finally, a knitting Shopping Spree from my awesome boyfriend! I have yet to redeem it, I'll let you know what I get. I can't decide at all, I've been thinking about it since Christmas!

I think the rest of the day is going to be used for rest, relaxation, and knitting!

I'm Back!

Yes, I'm back. Got stuck out of town longer than I anticipated. But on the bright side I got my purse done! Yay, it's beatiful! I decorated it with broken Gypsy Jewelry from the KC RenFest that I bought some years ago. I also finished a Kitty Wonton for Princess Bella, the spoiled marmalade. I feel gratified though because she loves it. I started working on the loopy velez cowl also in the original Stitch 'n Bitch book by Kitty. Man those loops are a B*$#H. They take forever, but I keep telling myself it's good to learn new things. I need to make a list of things I've already knitted so I can keep track, so that's what I'm ging to do. (In Order)
  1. Garter Stitch scarf for Boy Friend
  2. Rib Stitch scarf for myself and to learn pearling
  3. Kerchief for Best Friend's B-day
  4. 2nd Kerchief with heart seed pattern in middle, also for Best Friend
  5. Coney Island Fireworks scark(SnB1) modified so it was thinner and 8ft long
  6. Pretty red Mohair/Wool scarf experimenting with edge stitches really discovered how itchy that combination could be. Now only wear it as decoration not touching my neck. Also, I put fringe on it.
  7. Adult's Only Devil Hat(SnB1)-made with cotton, oops, not very warm., but it's really pretty.
  8. Simple gold beanie hat for a charity sale
  9. Simple White beanie hat for a KD sister's real sister for x-mas
  10. Designed a KD beanie, made it and put pom-poms on top. Discovered that Pom-Poms take forever. (I'll put my pattern for it up here next time I make a trip to the library so i can use their scanner). Gave it to a KD sister for x-mas.
  11. Made mittens for Boy Friend (He wanted furry/lumberjack mittens). Way oversized them, they fall off my hands if I wear them, but he says they're perfect. (I love that kid)
  12. Made Purse! (really easy, can't wait to show my Sorority Sister's who have only done scarfs and try to talk them into making a purse cause it's just squares!)
  13. Made Kitty toys 2 Wontons... she lost the first one, bad kitty.
  14. Working on Loopy Velez Cowl. D*^n Loops!

That's what I'ver knitted since August of this year. Oh yeah I designed a pirate beanie with a skull and cross bones on the front and Argh across the back. Started knitting it, got done with the Fair Isle, turned it inside out to see how it was going and Argh was mirror image (I was trying to do it backwards so I could flip up the bottom part) Frogged it and was so disapointed I haven't tried again. :( I'll post that design here too next time I'm in the library. Don't be sad for me, I'll try it again when I get board, or ambitious, whichever one!

I think that's it for today, I'll post what I got for Christmas tommorrow because this one is already super long.

Day Before I leave

I'm leaving town for a week or so for Christmas so I won't be blogging. So this is my last post until the 28th or 29th. So, yesterday we watched all the Lord of the Rings Movies (as mind numbing as that is) and the dorkiest of all dorkisms proceeded to play 6 hours worth of Dungeons and Dragons. I really love that game, but I feel like a real nerd telling people I play it. So let's just get it out in the open. I'm a DnD nerd, worst I'm the biggest kind of nerd, I'm a Dungeon Master, and proud of it. So, anyway, today we went out to breakfast, and then we went to graduation to cheer our friends on., then we came home and watched horror flics on Sci Fi channel (I continued to knit my purse, 1 panel done and 1/8 of the second panel done) We all cooked a house dinner of baked pasta and played Diablo(LAN style). oh heaven's above, I am the biggest dork. I knit, I Dungeon Master and I play Diablo LAN games with my friends.

On that note, I'll say adieu until the 28th!

This one too

Knitting for Kitty

Ooooh!! More exploring and I found this adorable cat toy project that I dcided to post right now (since I don't have a printer available) so I don't forget where it is! Kitty Toys.

Last Final and Webwork

My last final was early this morning. Thank God, a nice long break until next semester. Plenty of time to work on my knitting! Other than that I've spent most of the day on activity calanders for KD(Kappa Delta) and reading other peoples knitting blogs to get a good idea of what a good format is and how I'd really like to format my blog. Also I've investigated a couple of rings and a really cool web magazine called "Knitty-little purls of wisdom". I'm all kinds of excited about finding such a cool website and more patterns, always more patterns!
Some of the blogs I visited today:

I feel overwelmed by the all the cool knittyness, I feel like my head is going to fall off, there's just too much to think about and enjoy! I worked some more on my purse, I'm up to 6.5 inches only 5.5inches left to go! Oh yeah, and then I have to knit the back panel and the straps, oh well. It will all be wrth it when I have an adorable purse I can tell everyone I made myself! I'm working on getting my digital camera fixed so I can display my finished items here (at least the ones I haven't given away). I want to show off, stupid camera, blagh!

Studying

Today we woke up early to take the cat to the vets. Poor kitty, her spading wound is infected. Went back to bed and up until now I've spent the rest of the day studying for my Calc 3 final. I have to get a high F on the final to pass the class with a C. So I'm hoping to get a B on the final because that would mean I got a B in the class. Yay for finals at 8am! Luckily enough though, this should be my last one! I started knitting an Purse yesterday using the Zeeby's Bag pattern from the Stitch 'n Bitch book by Tina who also has a blog called Primp. I'm making it out of some yarn I got from the Kansas City Rennaissance Festival this fall and I'm debating about using 3 different yarns instead of just two. For reasons you'll hear about later. My digital camera is broken, I need to find the warrenty. I want my digital camera back! when I get it back, there will be lots of pictures. For now, I'll just have to deal. I might post again later today with a list of links to my holiday wish list stuff. (Real wish list as in no one I know could aford to buy it for me, so there's no use in asking)

My First Post

Well,
This is my first post so I guess I'll just introduce myself. First, I'm a college student(majoring in Engineering Management) and I'm a member of Kappa Delta Sorority. I'm in the University Choir and I work at the College Theatre as the Senior Sound Technician and Tech Lead. I'm currently obsessed with knitting and Stitch and Bitch (I really want Stitch and Bitch Nation for Christmas, someone make my boyfriend give it to me!) I'll talk about knitting and the patterns that I've designed later, but speaking of the boyfriend, we've been going out ever since my freshman year (I'm a junior), I'm also reading I am Charlotte Simmons by Tom Wolfe to find out his take on College and how it compares to my real life. Why is my blog called allurement? I don't know, because it was a combination of magic and feminine, and just me being romantic and silly I guess.

I think that'll be it for my first post.
